Through the prophet Isaiah (56:7), God calls His Temple “a house of prayer for all the peoples”. Jesus zealously reiterated this when He violently cleared the temple (Matt. 21:13; Mark 11:17). After the death and resurrection of Jesus, we no longer need to go to a building to worship and pray. Paul even goes so far as to tell us that our bodies are “temples of the Holy Spirit” (1 Cor. 6:19).
In the Old Covenant, God had set apart Israel to be a blessing to all the nations (Gen. 22:18). A prominent way this blessing was to be achieved was through Temple prayer for the nations. Now in the New Covenant, there are millions of ‘temples’ (houses) who get to bless this world through prayer. Join us in heeding the Lord’s call to be houses of prayer for all peoples.
